What are the Benefits of Air Purifiers?

An air purifier is an electrical device that homebuyers need to clean their air at home. However, many homeowners have a misconception that an air purifier is an expensive investment that does not have any value for their house. This is not the case, as air purifiers have been consistently proven to offer many benefits. We will discuss some of these benefits in detail below.

Seasonal Allergy Control

In the United States, seasonal allergies are very common during the winter and spring seasons. If you have a family member who suffers from seasonal allergies, you need to have an air purifier. This system has been designed to remove pollens, mold, and dirt from the air, which are common triggers of allergic symptoms. An air purifier will deliver a clean environment that does not have allergens in the air.

Removes Food and Tobacco Odors

Odors make your home uncomfortable and are the main reason why you have flies all over your living area and in the kitchen. Odors may come from food and tobacco, especially if one of the members of your family is an active smoker. If you do not deal with odors immediately, your house may adopt a permanent repugnant smell. However, with an air purifier, odors will be removed from the house immediately, and your home will be fresh once again.

Cleans Indoor Air

According to the EPA, indoor air is two to five times dirtier than outdoor air. This means that people who do not have an air purifier have been breathing dirty air, which can cause respiratory health complications. To enhance your health and that of your young children, you need to make sure that you have incorporated the necessary mechanisms of improving the air in your residence. An air purifier will improve the quality of your indoor air, thus promoting a healthier lifestyle.

Deals With Pet Mess

Pets are important members of the family, and they offer people some comfort and companionship. Some animals are even certified as necessary companions for people with health or mental issues. However, pets can bring some mess inside houses that need immediate attention. Pet dander is one of the major problems that people with pets have to deal with. The second issue is pet fur, which can quickly coat everything in your house. With an air purifier, pet dander and pet fur will start to be eliminated from your residence.

Increases HVAC Lifespan

Your HVAC system not only handles its primary functions of heating and cooling your house, but it also removes contaminants from your residence. These contaminants can eventually affect the efficiency of your system, especially if they damage the air filters. However, by investing in an air purifier, all contaminants will be removed from your indoor air, allowing your HVAC unit to focus on simply heating and cooling your home, which will prolong its lifespan.

Kills Bacteria and Viruses

The air inside the house is dominated by considerable percentages of bacteria and viruses that could affect the health of your family. These are disease-causing organisms that can lead to illnesses, such as the common cold, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. However, with an air purifier, all of these viruses and bacteria will be removed from the house with ease. Some air purifiers use ultraviolet light that not only removes bacteria and viruses from the air but also destroys them completely.

Prevents Asthma Attacks

Asthma has already been established as one of the most dangerous respiratory illnesses affecting millions of people around the world. However, the illness can be managed, and asthmatic individuals can stay healthy and go about their daily activities like normal. However, a problem arises when pollen, mold, dirt, and algae, which are all commonly known for activating asthmatic symptoms, are available in the house. These agents are found in the air and can only be removed through an air purification process. If you are asthmatic, you need to make sure that you have an air purifier in your home to remove any airborne contaminants.

How To Change a Furnace Filter

It’s important to replace your furnace’s filter roughly once every three months. This helps to keep your furnace running efficiently. If you’ve never changed it on your own, don’t worry. It’s a pretty simple procedure.

Furnace Filter Replacement Instructions

The first thing you do is turn your furnace off. Optionally, you can disconnect all power going to your furnace during this procedure.

Next, identify where exactly the filter on your furnace is. To do this, remove the cover on the front or side of the furnace.

You’ll do this by simply pulling “up” in most cases.

If you have any issues at all, we have a tremendous amount of experience helping people all over Bend with their furnace. At Mountain View Heating, we are more than happy to assist you.

In addition, you can check the furnace manual. It may show you exactly where the filter is located.

The very next step after you locate the filter is to determine if the filter actually needs to be changed.

You’re going to want to see if your filter has a plastic frame. If it does, you just have to rinse it off in your tub or sink. You do not need actually to change it.

If it does indeed need to be changed, you will want to see what size your furnace filter is. Look at the filter itself, and the size is usually written there on the old filter. If, for some reason, it is not, go ahead and measure it carefully.

How to Remove the Old Filter and Install the Replacement

You’re now ready to remove the old filter. As you remove it, look at it carefully for an arrow. This arrow on your old filter is the “airflow arrow.” You want to see which way it’s pointing. This is because you will want the airflow arrow on your new filter to point the same way, which is facing toward your furnace.

Go ahead and insert your new furnace air filter into your furnace.

That’s it! You’re done!
